Koko Beach has long been our favorite hangout restaurant. It's like Cheers in Boston. It's just a comfortable place to roll into, and the owners are generous. They give a full pour when you order Scotch. If you don't know what that is, it's the difference between booze to the brim of the glass versus the measured thimble most places give you. Beyond that the food is great. They make a super burger, not your classic patty, but a real burger, and the baked potato is the best there is. We've been waiting and waiting for common sense to allow places like this to do business again. We've been vaccinated and we're ready to be allowed to enjoy life again. We've waited and waited but now disaster. Today, we learned that this comfortable Carlsbad institution is closing forever. The owners have decided that they've been penalized enough. They've done everything right but now they're cast to winds like yesterday's dust. This is a sad outcome from the failure of our national, state, county, and city leadership to find a way to support people like the fine owners at Koko Beach. Jeff, Martin, and Gerry... we are so sorry for what has happened. We know that today, March 1, 2021, was your drop-dead day for deciding. We understand. Please know that there are people who care and who are mourning today.

A friend recommended this spot so tried it. We had their French onion soup. It was amazing. They also give you fresh bread, that was delicious too. I ordered their steak sandwich. It cones open faced. I asked for medium well. It was more on the super well done side. Our server was funny and nice and I'd go back if ever in this area again.

Ever feel like you want to experience the old school prime rib places? Like none of that flashy or hip restaurants. This really is old school- you get the carpet, old smelling, waitresses that have been working there since 18 and now 50. If you're expecting hip and trendy, go somewhere else. If you want basic all American food this is the place. We sat at the bar since we didn't want to wait. You have to come for the prime rib. Don't come here and get fish.. Prime rib is what they are known for. It was good, cooked right. It could have been a little hotter but it was still good. You get 2 sides, and their French onion soup is awesome! I know some people don't like their raisin bread but I like it! Put some butter on it. No frills, old school prime rib place.

Awesome place for prime rib! I know it's strange, but come on in for an old school fully carpeted bar vibe. The prime rib dinner is a great deal which gets you soup or salad and a 16oz prime rib for under $30. It was surprisingly delicious too. I've heard good thing about this place from many different people. Truly a hidden gem. Limited parking, park on the street Great service Check out their weekday dinner specials

Wow! How have I not written a review for this place. I've been stopping in here since 2010 and they've never let me down yet. This is a great spot for lunch or dinner. While the Village in Carlsbad can be a challenging place for parking, Koko has two lots to choose from for parking so I never have an issue finding a spot. They have some really terrific items on the menu and the portions? Excellent for what you'll spend. From their salads, to burgers, ribs to steaks there's nothing that has let me down. They have a delicious bay shrimp and crab cocktail and the bread is always fresh and served warm. They have a full bar as well - "come thirsty". Service is always friendly and quick. It really is one of my favorites in the Village.

They have the best prime rib, and great prices!!! Other stuff on the menu is kinda basic lol but I'll keep coming back for the prime rib omg. The 16 ounce is enough to last two meals. Comes with jus and horseradish sauce which complimented perfectly. I had mine with steamed veggies and the French onion soup. The soup is good, and most importantly not over salted like most french onion soups are. Came on a birthday and got free carrot cake!! Our server was very nice.

I am a huge fan of this place. I have never been here before but came because of the good reviews and the prices. It is really fair pricing for the amount of food that you get. I ordered the sirloin steak and a half pound of crab shells to go with their clam chowder and steamed vegetables. The clam chowder was not my favorite. It was very chowdery but it was very overpowering with the amount of onion that was in the soup. I am a big clam chowder fan but this was just awful flavor balance. The steamed veggies were good just add some salt and you've got it made. The steak I ordered was cooked well, I ordered medium rare and it was perfectly pink in the middle. The crab legs were the star of the show though! I loved them! The crab was cooked to perfection and the flavor was amazing. I highly reccomend thier crab legs it was delicious and a great price for the quality and ammount of food.

YAS!!! So this place also serves BREAKFAST! Came to KoKo Beach last month with my surfing bros. After living in North San Diego for 15+ years and driving by this place a kazillion times, I've always wondered about it. When the surf was blown out at Terramar we drove on up and decided to try this place at 9:30 am after checking out their menu online. Oops, they don't open until 10 am so we went on a 20 mile run (actually we hit up the donut shop 2 blocks down) and came back. Walked in and realized it was a step back in time to when restaurants were comfy and had a neighborhood feel to them. KoKo Beach is rather like an upscale Captain Kenos. They have a full bar and a friendly bartender ready in the morning! My bros decided to have bloody marys and mimosas while I stuck with ice tea. Their drinks looked great and I kinda wish that I was more of a "day drinker". As for the breakfast, it was loaded with yummy bacon and perfectly cooked eggs. I went for their Half Pound KoKo Burger and was not disappointed! It was juicy, perfectly seasoned, BIG, and probably the best I've had in the area. I also loved the steak fries. Our server was also super friendly and efficient! So this is now our go-to place for a post surfing meal when we are hitting the waves in the area. What could be improved? Hmm, maybe open a little earlier, put up a sign that promotes their breakfast service, especially during the busy summer season when there are hungry tourists lurking about looking for someplace to eat first thing in the morning. I was also surprised that they don't serve pancakes since that's usually a staple breakfast item that's easy to make. All in all I'm totally glad we tried KoKo Beach!
